Email validation · Trueguard vs ZeroBounce

Comparison

ZeroBounce vs Trueguard.

Trueguard is a ZeroBounce alternative for real-time email verification. It checks syntax, MX, SMTP, disposable, catch-all, role-based, and free-mail signals in one API for $49.99 a month per 50,000 validations, with flat pricing and no credits to track. ZeroBounce ONE costs $379 a month for the same 50,000 credits, or $499 as a one-time pack. Trueguard also adds bot and fraud prevention on the same platform.

Every ZeroBounce figure comes from their own published pages, and every feature row says partial where a feature exists with a caveat. Last reviewed: 2026-08-16.

Their monthly subscription, set to 50,000 credits. A one-time pay-as-you-go pack of the same 50,000 is $499.

About 7.5x cheaper, monthly against monthly, for the same 50,000. ZeroBounce ONE bundles inbox placement testing, warmup, and blacklist monitoring into that price, so it buys more than verification.

Where ZeroBounce is the better choice.

Stated plainly, because you will find it out anyway.

Security certifications

ZeroBounce holds SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001:2022, HIPAA and PCI DSS. Trueguard is GDPR-compliant with EU data residency and does not hold SOC 2 Type II today.

Sender deliverability tooling

Inbox placement testing, blacklist monitoring, DMARC monitoring and warmup from the same vendor. Trueguard leaves deliverability tooling out of scope by design.

Spam-trap and abuse statuses

ZeroBounce returns dedicated spamtrap and abuse statuses, part of 7 statuses with 30+ sub-statuses. Trueguard has no dedicated spam-trap signal.

SDKs, integrations and bulk upload

SDKs documented in 14 languages, 60+ native integrations plus Zapier, and a bulk upload screen. Trueguard is REST only and API-first, so a list means a short script.

Credits, or a monthly ZeroBounce ONE plan

Both are metered by credit. The ONE plan also bundles deliverability tools, so its price is not verification alone.

Which one should you pick?

Choose Trueguard

You verify addresses continuously inside a product and want one flat monthly line instead of a credit balance to watch.

Your real problem is fake signups, not list hygiene, so a verdict on the address alone is not enough.

You want disposable and temporary email detection as a first-class signal, backed by a continuously updated registry.

You want browser, network, device, and IP intelligence beside the email verdict, without integrating a second vendor.

Choose ZeroBounce

Your purchase runs through a security questionnaire that demands SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, or HIPAA. ZeroBounce holds all three, plus PCI DSS.

You want sender deliverability tooling from the same vendor: inbox placement testing, blacklist monitoring, DMARC monitoring, and warmup.

You need dedicated spam-trap and abuse statuses as separate fields in the response.

Your work is bulk list cleaning through a browser upload screen rather than a call from your application.

The three Trueguard plans.

No credit multipliers, and overage at the same rate as the plan.

Is Trueguard a good ZeroBounce alternative?

For real-time verification inside a product, yes. Trueguard checks syntax, MX, SMTP, disposable, catch-all, role-based, and free-mail signals in one API call for a flat $49.99 a month per 50,000 validations, against $379 a month for the same volume on ZeroBounce ONE, with the full check set on every plan and no credits to buy or watch expire. Disposable and temporary email detection is a first-class signal, backed by a continuously updated registry. Bot and fraud prevention run on the same platform, so a risky address is correlated with device, IP, and network fingerprints. ZeroBounce is email deliverability only.

Is Trueguard cheaper than ZeroBounce?

For ongoing verification, yes. Comparing the two monthly plans directly, Trueguard is $49.99 a month for 50,000 validations and ZeroBounce ONE is $379 a month for the same 50,000 credits, about 7.5 times more. ZeroBounce ONE starts at $99 a month for 10,000 credits, or $79 billed annually. If you would rather buy the volume outright, ZeroBounce's pay-as-you-go pack for 50,000 is $499 at $0.00998 per credit. One fair caveat: the ZeroBounce ONE price also bundles inbox placement testing, warmup, blacklist monitoring, and an email finder, so it is not buying verification alone.

Do ZeroBounce credits expire?

Conditionally. ZeroBounce's own purchasing FAQ states that for clients registering after 1 June 2026, credits never expire while a ZeroBounce ONE subscription is active, and otherwise expire two years after the last payment or active subscription day. That is a longer runway than most vendors give, but it is narrower than the Credits Never Expire badge suggests. Trueguard has no credits at all. The plan resets monthly, so there is nothing to lose track of.

How accurate is ZeroBounce really?

ZeroBounce guarantees 99.6% accuracy on most providers and 96%+ on AOL, Yahoo, and Office 365, backed by a 5x refund formula with published conditions. Independent tests published in 2026 measured lower figures in practice: LeadMagic put it at 97.8% over 10,000 addresses, WizLeads measured a 3.70% real bounce rate on addresses ZeroBounce called valid, and Allegrow measured an 8.1% false-positive rate on a controlled catch-all set. Each of those tests was published by a company selling a competing verifier, so treat every number as vendor-run rather than neutral. What is notable is that three differently-authored tests converged on the same weak point: catch-all domains.

Does Trueguard offer a free tier with no credit card?

Yes. Trueguard's API free tier is 100 validations per month, no credit card required. The free single-email tool at trueguard.io/email-verifier allows 10 checks per day with no signup at all. These are separate quotas: the tool is for manual one-off checks, and the API free tier is for integrating the endpoint. ZeroBounce also gives 100 validation credits per month on its Freemium tier.

Does Trueguard detect disposable and temporary emails?

Yes. Disposable and temporary email detection is a core Trueguard signal, backed by a real-time, continuously updated registry of throwaway domains such as Mailinator, Guerrilla Mail, Temp-Mail, and 10MinuteMail. It runs in the same API call as the rest of the validation checks and is included on every plan, with nothing gated behind a higher tier.

What deliverability statuses does Trueguard return?

Trueguard returns four statuses: Safe (deliverable), Risky (technically deliverable but carrying a quality flag such as catch-all or disposable), Invalid (not deliverable), and Unknown (the mail server gave no clear answer). ZeroBounce returns seven top-level statuses with more than thirty sub-statuses. To migrate, map valid to Safe, invalid to Invalid, unknown to Unknown, and catch-all, spamtrap, abuse, and do_not_mail to Risky, then read the specific flag on the Risky response.

Does Trueguard offer EU data residency and a DPA like ZeroBounce?

Yes. Trueguard offers EU data residency and a Data Processing Agreement at trueguard.io/data-processing-agreement, available on every plan including the free tier. ZeroBounce states that EU customer data is transmitted, stored, and processed only on EU servers and provides a DPA to EU customers at sign-up. Both services meet EU data-residency requirements, so residency alone is not the reason teams switch. Price and credit rules are.

When should I stay on ZeroBounce?

Two cases. First, if your purchase runs through a security questionnaire that demands SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, or HIPAA, because ZeroBounce holds all three plus PCI DSS. Second, if you want sender deliverability tooling from the same vendor as verification: inbox placement testing, blacklist monitoring, DMARC monitoring, warmup, and an email finder. Outside those two cases you are paying premium credit rates for a check that a flat monthly plan covers for less.
