Which one should you pick?

Choose Trueguard

You verify at signup or inside your product, more than about 6,250 times a month.

You want domain age and risky-TLD signals in the verdict.

You want fraud signals beside the email on one platform.

You do not want a credit balance that expires.

Choose NeverBounce

You clean lists by uploading a CSV.

You want native ESP or CRM sync.

You verify fewer than about 6,250 a month, or up to 10,000 on Growth.

You want their bounce guarantee or typo suggestions.

The three Trueguard plans.

No credit multipliers, and overage at the same rate as the plan.

Is Trueguard a good NeverBounce alternative?

For verifying emails by API, yes. Trueguard checks syntax, MX, SMTP, disposable, catch-all, role-based and free-mail signals in one call, covers 50,000 validations for $49.99 a month, and sits on a platform with device, IP and network fingerprints for fraud context. For upload-based list cleaning or native ESP and CRM sync, NeverBounce is the better fit.

Is there a cheaper alternative to NeverBounce?

It depends on volume. Trueguard is $49.99 a month for 50,000 validations, then $0.001 each. NeverBounce pay as you go is $0.008 per credit up to 5,000 credits, and a 50,000-credit pack is $250. The break-even is about 6,250 checks a month: below it pay as you go costs less, above it Trueguard does. At 10,000 a month the NeverBounce Growth plan is $49, which is 99 cents less than Trueguard.

How much does NeverBounce cost per email?

Pay as you go falls with pack size: $0.008 per credit up to 5,000, $0.005 from 10,000 to 50,000, $0.004 at 100,000, $0.003 at 250,000 and 500,000, $0.0025 at 1,000,000 and $0.002 at 2,000,000. Growth is $49 a month for up to 10,000 emails. Enterprise is custom and described as typically used for 250,000+ emails a month. All figures read on 2026-11-04.

Do NeverBounce credits expire?

On pay as you go, yes: their pricing page says credits expire 12 months after purchase. On Growth, monthly credits replenish on the billing date. Trueguard has no credits. The plan resets monthly.

Does NeverBounce have a free plan?

Every new account gets 10 free credits, and their pricing page says no credit card is required to verify a first email list. Without a payment method the API is rate limited, bulk API access is restricted, and it returns an error after 10 verifications. Trueguard gives 100 validations a month on the API with no card, plus 10 checks a day on the free tool at trueguard.io/email-verifier.

Does Trueguard charge for invalid emails?

Yes. Trueguard bills every successful request that returns a result, invalid inputs included. NeverBounce states 1 credit per verification. Whether it bills unknown results is not listed on the pages we read (as of 2026-11-04).

Is NeverBounce accurate?

NeverBounce says it helps you "Deliver up to 99.9% of your emails with confidence" and guarantees that no more than 3% of your emails will bounce, refunding the difference if they do. The guarantee has conditions: the list must be cleaned within 72 hours of mailing, hold at least 500 unique addresses, and it covers only deliverable results, with freemail providers excluded. We have not run an independent test, so check a sample on both free tiers. Capterra shows 4.4 from 51 reviews (as of 2026-11-04).

How do I switch from NeverBounce's API?

Get a free Trueguard key, change the endpoint, and move authentication from the key parameter to the X-API-KEY header. Map the result codes: valid becomes safe, invalid stays invalid, disposable becomes risky, catchall becomes risky or safe with isCatchall true, and unknown stays unknown. Run both on a sample of your own addresses, compare the answers, then cut over.

Compare them on your own list.

100 validations a month, free, no card. Run your own list against both and compare the answers before you pay anyone.
